"The Object of Power is Power"

"Power is not a means, it is an end." This quote by George Orwell demonstrates that the goal of any achievement is power through accomplishment. The world knows that power is necessary to society. The people that have power and even the people that live under power know that naturally humans seek power. This may not be in the form of complete control over something or someone, but everyone desires some sort of power whether it be beneficial or harmful. On the other hand, some seek to take power away, but even at that, power is not just removed and destroyed, rather it is displaced and possibly even redistributed. Many people have their own form of power, although it might be suppressed. It mainly boils down to the idea of, "who has the power, and if it is not me, how can I get it or maintain my own." Power is freedom in a sense. When you are stripped of your freedoms, like in a totalitarian government,  you are then, by definition, stripped of your power. So when Orwell states that "power is not a means, it is a end" he is partially correct. Power is both the means and the end because power can not be destroyed, it can only be redistributed.

  1. Insightful.
Also, don't forget! Freedom is a non-count noun. It NEVER takes an S. You can strip away freedom, not freedomS.
