Poem

It had happened at last.
They had erased the past.
If we could have stopped them by negotiation,
We would be placed in this wretched caste.

Once the war had ended, my thoughts were killed.
I had to try to stop my my father from risking his life.
So I went to the headquarters, in my pocket I carried a knife.
The guard followed me with his gun, to make sure I didn't run,
but I swooped past him with ease because he knew not of my skills.

I entered the building with courage and finesse,
but to get into the inner building, I needed special access.
So I snuck in through the back way, I was cautious to not get caught.
Honestly all of that sneaking did not help with my stress.

If not for the faulty security camera, I'm sure I would have been seen.
I got into he control room and shut off all the telescreens.
I knew what I had done, and I knew the lies they could no longer broadcast.
And then I thought to myself in my last moments, "It had happened at last."
